German Khan is an international businessman, investor and philanthropist, who is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of Genesis Philanthropy Group.
Mr. Khan has built a career in business and is a co-founder of LetterOne (L1), an international investment business, headquartered in Luxembourg, with offices in London and New York.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of L1 Holdings and L1 Investment Holdings as well as the Supervisory Boards of DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG, the German oil company. DEA, based in Hamburg, has operations in Norway, Denmark, Germany, Algeria and Egypt. DEA recently acquired a 50% share in the onshore oil field Ogarrio in Mexico. Previously, Mr. Khan served as the executive director and a member of the management board of oil company TNK-BP.
Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Mr. Khan is a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys.
An active supporter of Jewish causes around the world, Mr. Khan co-founded the Genesis Prize which is awarded annually in Jerusalem, and has been dubbed the Jewish Nobel by Time magazine. He is also a co-founder of the Russian Jewish Congress, which is an affiliate of The World Jewish Congress.
