Ru-Ju-LA - Russian Jewish Young Adult and Young Family Network in LA

Ru-Ju-LA - Russian Jewish Young Adult and Young Family Network in LA

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has been at the center of Jewish Los Angeles since 1911, building the local community and reaching out to support the state of Israel and Jews around the world.

Genesis Philanthropy Group supports an effort by The Federation to strengthen the Russian-speaking Jewish community in Los Angeles and its connection to the greater Jewish community. This initiative builds upon young adult programming that began in 2010, and includes Ru-Ju-La community group, Community Leadership Institute – Russian-speaking Track, and Community Microgrants.

Ru-Ju-LA is a group of local Russian-speaking young adult lay leaders structured as a Steering Committee with a mission to organize monthly community engagement opportunities that feature young adult and family programming and community-wide Jewish holiday celebrations. Committee members receive additional lay leadership training and participate in a day-long educational retreat.

Community Leadership Institute: Russian track (CLI) is a fifteen-month program, based on the original Russian Community Leadership Program (RCLP), designed for young professionals ages 25 through 40 that teaches community building, Jewish content, and leadership, and includes a one-day opening retreat, a community mission to Israel, monthly meetings focusing on Jewish learning and leadership skills.

Community Project Microgrants allow graduates of the CLI program to use their newly developed leadership skills to create and implement ideas that strengthen the Jewish identity of Russian-speaking Jews in Los Angeles and contribute to the vibrancy of the LA mainstream Jewish community. The grants are also available for community organizations working with Russian-speaking population to strengthen and widen their programming offerings.

Financial support for these programs is provided by Genesis Philanthropy Group in partnership with The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and the Jewish Agency for Israel.
