Park East Synagogue

Park East Synagogue

Founded in 1888 the Park East Synagogue is one of the nation's leading modern Orthodox congregations.

Sunday Shkola began at Park East Synagogue in 2011 as a holiday and Shabbat program for the Russian-speaking Jewish community and has grown into a weekly Russian language Jewish Sunday school for children ages three to eight.

Beginning in 2014, with support from the Genesis Philanthropy Group, Sunday Shkola has been able to expand its staff, leading to an increase in the number of students, Shkola sessions and the types of classes offered. Additionally, Shkola is hosting more events for Russian-speaking Jewish parents.

Financial support for this program is provided by Genesis Philanthropy Group along with Park East Synagogue and other donors.

Goals and Objectives

  • Provide Russian-speaking Jewish children with the opportunity to attend a Sunday school that meets their cultural needs.
  • Connect young Russian-speaking Jews with Jewish communal life, inspiring them to become leaders within this community.
  • Introduce members of Park East Synagogue to the Russian-speaking Jewish community, its history and culture.
