Maria New Children’s Hormone Foundation

Maria New Children’s Hormone Foundation

The Maria I. New Children's Hormone Foundation is a New York based non-profit organization, created to support the research of the world renowned pediatric endocrinologist, Dr. Maria I. New, and her genetic endocrine group.

Dr. New heads the Genetic Endocrinology, Adrenal and Steroid Disorders Group in the Department of Pediatrics at the Mount Sinai College of Medicine.

In 2012 and 2013, Genesis Philanthropy Group's funding supported the Maria New Foundation's efforts in researching, treating and disseminating information about Non-classical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), a genetic disorder that is very common in the Ashkenazi Jewish population, including the Russian Jewish population. This funding allowed the Maria New Foundation to continue its research, provide clinical care for adults and children with CAH, educate young physicians about the disorder, and conduct outreach to educate the Russian-speaking Jewish community about CAH.

Goals and Objectives

  • Develop new innovations in the field of CAH and new scientific publications in the field.
  • Diagnose and treat people with CAH, thus improving their quality of life and fertility.
  • Improve awareness of CAH among physicians and the Russian-speaking Jewish community.
