IDF Musical Ensemble Concert

IDF Musical Ensemble Concert

In April 2012, Genesis Philanthropy Group helped bring together World War II veterans, high school students, university students, and young Jewish communal professionals from Russian-speaking Jewish communities of New York for a festive celebration of Yom Ha'Atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day.

The celebration featured a memorable performance of popular and traditional Israeli songs by the Israel Defense Force Musical Ensemble Concert at the Millennium Theater in Brooklyn. The sold out performance clearly showed stellar support by the New York Russian-speaking Jewish community for the State of Israel and the brave soldiers and officers of its Defense Forces.

Goals and Objectives

  • Gather several generations of Russian-speaking Jews together for a community concert, thereby strengthening intergenerational bonds.
  • Give Russian-speaking Jewish World War II veterans a unique chance to see the IDF Ensemble in concert.
  • Show the IDF Ensemble the New York Russian-speaking Jewish community's support for their military service, and the State of Israel as a whole.
  • Provide attendees with a deeper understanding of Jewish customs, traditions, and history.
