Russian-language Section of the Hakhel Festival

Russian-language Section of the Hakhel Festival

The Panim Association organizes an annual Hakhel Festival of Jewish learning. Established in 1997, the festival includes many cultural events, such as theatrical and musical performances, poetry readings and meetings with artists.

Since 2008, with the support of Genesis Philanthropy Group, the festival has been organizing an additional Russian-language section that offers meetings, classes and performances in the Russian language.

In 2009, the festival was visited by about 300 Russian speakers from various parts of Israel.

The festival is supported by the Israeli Ministry of Education, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Keren Kayemet Israel, the United Kibbutz Movement, the AviChai Foundation and the Jewish Federation of San Francisco.

The Russian language program of the festival is fully funded by Genesis Philanthropy Group.

Goals and Objectives

  • Help hundreds of Russian-speaking Israelis learn about Jewish educational organizations and discover new layers of their Jewish identity.
  • Give Russian-speaking Israeli organizations an opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience of the festival's participants.
