Grants in the Former Soviet Union

  • Grant period: 2012
In 2012, the Orange Square group received financial support from Genesis Philanthropy Group for a project which aims to create a community of young Jewish artists.

Orange Square organized an online competition of art on Jewish themes. The winning works will be exhibited at three paired art shows at popular art galleries and centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The project is also supported by the Joint Distribution Committee (St. Petersburg and Moscow), the Jewish Agency for Israel (St. Petersburg), the Hillel Center (St. Petersburg), and private donors.

This grant is a part of Grassroots annual competition, organized by Genesis Philanthropy Group and UJA-Federation of New York. The goal of the competition is to discover and support the best local initiatives aimed at the revival of Jewish identity, the preservation of cultural and historical heritage and the development of socially active Jewish communities.
